Where are you located?

Our head office is in Richmond, Victoria and our practitioners operate as a fully remote team located all across Australia. All our consultations are conducted via video call (using Zoom secure technology). Find out more about what your consultations will include.

 

I prefer in-person appointments, is that an option?

Not at the moment. We have found that consulting exclusively via video calls allows more frequent contact, meaning you’ll get better support throughout your journey. With your consent, our doctors will communicate with your regular treating General Practitioner (GP) or Specialist. So any matters requiring a physical examination can be conducted by them.  Find out more about what your consultations will include.

 

I don’t know how to use Zoom. Can I still join?

Of course! We have chosen Zoom because it is very simple to use – you don’t have to sign up for an account or have any prior experience using it. Prior to your appointment, you’ll receive a link via email – all you need to do is click on the link at the time of your appointment and it will connect you. We are happy to do a practice with you before your first appointment if it will help you to feel more comfortable.

What are your qualifications as medical professionals?

Our team is a combination of medical practitioners, including doctors, dieticians, and nurses. We are all registered in Australia with professional bodies. We all have extensive experience (and passion) using a low carb or ketogenic diet for the prevention, treatment and reversal of diabetes, as well as a range of other chronic health conditions. Can you really reverse type 2 diabetes?

Yes. Reversal is the current gold standard in treatment of type 2 diabetes.

For the most part, Type 2 diabetes is a disease caused by the food we eat. And so, by changing our diet, we are able to reverse diabetes for many of our patients, especially those who have been newly diagnosed.

What kind of treatment do you use?

We use medical nutrition therapy which is a highly-effective, evidence based method for reversing type 2 diabetes and improving health. Many patients also lose weight and come off diabetes medications in the process.

We tailor the diet to your needs and preferences – however it is typically based on a healthy low carb diet, including a wide variety of whole foods such as meat, fish, eggs, and lots of above ground veggies. You can enjoy nourishing fats like butter, lard, or coconut oil, too. You won’t eat carb-heavy foods like bread, pasta, rice, chips or crackers. We’ll help you replace these with lower carb options like zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice. Have a sneak peak of our recipes.

 

What can I expect if I become a member?

The first step is an enrolment call where we gain a really good understanding of your health history and goals, as well as give you a full overview of your treatment experience with us. We’ll then send you for blood tests, and ask you to complete a 1 week diet diary, which will help us to better personalise your diet plan.

This is followed by a comprehensive assessment with one of our experienced health coaches. Your coach will give you all the tips and tools you need to get started and help you uncover any barriers to lifestyle change, they will be your go-to person throughout your time with us.

Next you’ll meet with one of our doctors who will review your blood work and make recommendations for your medical management, based on risk or experience of diabetes or other chronic disease and medications.

Your team will be on-hand as often as you need them. You can ask questions outside of your consultation slots electronically (email, SMS, WhatsApps, Facebook Messenger) and we’ll aim to get back to you within 24 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays). Do you have meal plans?

Yes, we can provide you with a meal plan if you wish. We know our meal plans can be helpful when you’re getting started. Our food lists, as well as tips, tricks and tweaks from your health coach are likely to have you feeling full, satisfied and provide you with the very best foundation for real, sustained low-carb success. How many consultations are included?

Together with your health coach, and based on your individual needs, we will build a care plan that ensures you are fully supported throughout your journey, and especially as you implement diet and lifestyle changes. In your first month, you can expect two video consultations with your health coach and monthly thereafter with our Priority membership and weekly with the Ultimate membership.

In most cases, the medical review occurs in the first month and every three months thereafter with the Priority membership and monthly with the Ultimate membership. However, each person is unique – if you have particularly complex medical requirements, our doctor may wish to conduct more frequent reviews.

 

Between appointments you are able to contact your coach as often as needed. In most cases we respond immediately, but will always aim to respond within 24 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays). Find out more about what your consultations will include here.

 

Can I use my private health insurance?

Our care team includes services which may allow for rebates, please ask us how at enrolment. If you would like to use private health insurance, we can provide you with an itemised receipt following the appointment and you can claim directly from your health fund.  Sometimes it can be more beneficial for you to claim a rebate under a Medicare Care Plan and your coach will talk you through the best option. Can my partner and I share a subscription? Is there a family plan?

In order to provide the most comprehensive care to each person, we do not offer joint subscriptions.  Everybody is unique and you’ll get much better results when we tailor a plan for each person. Also, our service includes blood tests, diabetes and medication management (if required)  and to provide the safest and highest quality care for you, our appointments should be focused on each individual.

You are completely welcome to sit in on each other’s Zoom appointments if you would like to, and we will of course take into consideration that you are likely to shop, eat, and live together.  In fact, sitting in on each other’s appointments can be helpful – prompting questions and clarification, as well as gaining an understanding of your loved one’s health. Do I have to pay for blood tests?

All of the blood tests we order prior to your initial consultation are covered by Medicare. Ready to get started?

 

What is the minimum term I can sign up for?

From our years of experience, we’ve found the typical journey required for sustainable reversal of metabolic conditions is 6 to 9 months. While that time frames is optimal, we’ve established a minimum commitment of 3 months as the time-frame whereby many people will start to see meaningful results reflected in their pathology reports. Each of our membership options entails paying monthly and your subscription will auto renew each month until you tell us to you’d like to cancel. After the initial 3 months, you may cancel at anytime.

 

How do I cancel my membership?

If you decide to cancel, you just need to notify us of cancellation by email (info@diversahealth.com.au) at least 7 days prior to the renewal date. You’ve got nothing to lose, why not give Diversa a go now?

ABOUT DIABETES REVERSAL

Although there is no universally agreed upon definition for the reversal of type 2 diabetes, Diversa uses HbA1c to assist in defining diabetes and pre-diabetes reversal.

Type 2 diabetes reversal is when a patient who previously had an HbA1c in the diabetic range (>6.4%) returning an HbA1c in the non-diabetic range (<6.4%) (along with the absence of medications used to manage diabetes). Pre-diabetes reversal is when a patient who previously had an HbA1c in the pre-diabetic range (5.7-6.4%) returning an HbA1c to the non pre-diabetic range (less than 5.7%).

It is important to recognise that although not everybody may be able to completely reverse type 2 diabetes, partial reversal, the reduction of medication dosages, along with the simultaneous lowering of HbA1c, will unquestionably achieve a better quality of life and improve health outcomes for those living with type 2 diabetes.
